Mohanan, Proprietor, High-Grieve Granites, Malappuram, is disposed of. Industries Department. GO(Rt) No. 658/2026/ID, Date, Thiruvananthapuram, 18-06-2026. References: 1. Demand notice dated 17/02/2025 issued by District Geologist, Malappuram (DOMAL-DMG/3264/2024-M). 2. Appeal application submitted by Shri. M. E. Mohanan against the letter of District Geologist, Malappuram dated 30/01/2026 (DOMAL-DMG/2789/2024-M). 3. Report of the Director of Mining & Geology dated 15/6/2026 (DMG/1495/2026-M1). Order: Since the lease period for quarrying granite in 12965 hectares of land in Re-survey No. 155/3, 147/1, Vazhayur Village, Kondotty Taluk, Malappuram District, ended on 22/10/2022, based on the site inspection conducted by the Geology Office, it was found that 826207.33 metric tons of granite were illegally removed from outside the permitted quarrying lease area. A demand notice was issued by the District Geologist, Malappuram (Ref 1) to pay an amount of ₹2,54,70,135/- (Two crore fifty-four lakh seventy thousand one hundred and thirty-five rupees only) as arrears, including royalty and penalty. Subsequently, when the applicant applied for renewal of the dealer license for the land in Re-survey No. 155/1-2, 155/1, Vazhayur Village, Kondotty Taluk, Malappuram District, the application was rejected by the Geologist due to non-payment of the arrears mentioned in the demand notice dated 17/02/2025. Against this, Shri. M. E. Mohanan, Proprietor, High-Grieve Granites, Malappuram, filed an appeal (Ref 3). The advocate representing the applicant and the concerned officials were heard in person on 16/06/2026.
