Abstract: Fisheries Department - Rehabilitation of the family of a fisherman who lost his head of the family in the boat accident at Muthalapozhi - Order issued sanctioning financial assistance for house construction to Smt. Lathika Robin. Fisheries and Ports (C) Department. G.O.(Rt) No.350/2026/F&P dated Thiruvananthapuram, 19-06-2026. Reference: 1. G.O.(Ms) No.1/2024/F&P dated 05/01/2024. 2. Application submitted by Smt. Lathika Robin on 29/01/2026. 3. Letter No. DFTVM/777/2026-S1PIU dated 06/04/2026 from the Director of Fisheries. Order: On 10/07/2023, four people including Robin died in a boat accident at Muthalapozhi. Among the deceased, Kunjumon and Robin were homeless. Shri Kunjumon was provided three cents of land by his wife and a house was built using the Manappuram Finance Fund. Smt. Lathika Robin, wife of Robin, was provided a job at the Sea-Food Restaurant in Azhakulam based on her application, but she informed that she is currently unable to go to work due to the long distance to the workplace and the lack of anyone at home to look after the child. Furthermore, Smt. Lathika Robin could not build a house as she did not have land. Now, an organization has provided three cents of land for building a house, and she has requested financial assistance to build a house on that land as per reference (2). 2) The government had issued an order as per reference (1) sanctioning Rs. 4 lakh each for house construction to 355 beneficiaries who were included in the survey list under the Punargeham project and have their own land in a safe zone. The Director of Fisheries has informed as per reference (3) that for the majority of the 355 people included in the list as per the government order, it is currently not possible to build a house for Rs. 4 lakh due to the increase in construction costs. Therefore, considering the current living condition of Smt. Lathika Robin and her request for funds for house construction, the Director of Fisheries has recommended as per reference (3) that she can be considered for the financial assistance provided for house construction under the Punargeham project for those with land in a safe zone. 3) The government examined this matter. Based on the recommendation of the Director of Fisheries and to ensure the rehabilitation of the disaster-affected fisherman's family who lost the head of the family in the accident and to find a solution to the family's homelessness, the government hereby sanctions financial assistance of Rs. 4,00,000/- (Four Lakhs) to Smt. Lathika Robin, who is a beneficiary included in the survey list of the Punargeham project and is an individual who has land available for house construction in a safe zone, as per the Punargeham project for beneficiaries with land in a safe zone.
