Government of Kerala Abstract: Fisheries Department - The order of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies regarding the liquidation proceedings of non-functional cooperative societies is made applicable to the Fisheries Department. Permission is granted to the Director of Fisheries to extend the tenure of the liquidator of the Kannur City Fishermen Development Welfare Cooperative Society DF (D) 190/93 by one more year and to complete the proceedings within the stipulated time. Letters No. DFTVM/143/2026-F2 dated 05.02.2026 and 21.03.2026 of the Director of Fisheries. 2. Circular No. 29/2025 dated 16.09.2025 of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies. 3. Order dated 02-03-2026 of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies. Order: Since there are many Fishermen Development Welfare Cooperative Societies in the Fisheries Department whose liquidation proceedings have not been completed for various reasons, the Director of Fisheries requested to extend the tenure of the liquidator for the Kannur City Fishermen Development Welfare Cooperative Society DF (D) 190/93, as the order of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies in reference (3) is applicable to the Fisheries Department. The current tenure of the liquidator ended on 30.12.2025. 2) The Government examined this matter in detail. Considering the legal provisions, the Government hereby extends the tenure of the liquidator of the Kannur City Fishermen Development Welfare Cooperative Society DF (D) 190/93 by one year (up to 31.12.2026 only) and grants permission to the Director of Fisheries to complete the proceedings within the stipulated time. Based on this order, the Director of Fisheries shall take further action regarding the appointment/re-appointment of liquidators for other Fishermen Development Welfare Cooperative Societies where liquidation proceedings are pending. 3) Furthermore, the Director of Fisheries must ensure that the liquidation proceedings are completed within the granted period (by 31.12.2026), the final report is submitted, and the liquidation register is maintained accurately as per the circular in reference (2) of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.
