Government of Kerala, Revenue (DRF-A) Department, G.O.(Rt) No.158/2026/RD, Dated, Thiruvananthapuram, 15-03-2026. Order: The Director of Fisheries has reported that 2433 fishermen under Puthenthope and Chirayinkeezhu Matsyabhavans were unable to go for fishing from 12-04-2025 for 91 days due to sand accumulation in the Muthalapozhi fishing harbor channel. A total of ₹7,94,83,677/- (Seven crore ninety-four lakh eighty-three thousand six hundred and seventy-seven rupees only) (2433 x 359 x 91) is required as compensation for loss of employment as per MGNREGS rates. The Director of Fisheries requested to utilize the remaining ₹6.6497 crore in the TSB account from the ₹50.027 crore sanctioned earlier under G.O.(Ord) No.476/2023/RD for compensation to 1,66,756 registered fishing families affected by climate change in 2022-23, and to sanction the additional amount of ₹1,29,86,677/- (One crore twenty-nine lakh eighty-six thousand six hundred and seventy-seven rupees only) from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund. 2) The Government has examined the matter in detail. Based on this, the Government hereby sanctions ₹1,29,86,677/- (One crore twenty-nine lakh eighty-six thousand six hundred and seventy-seven rupees only) from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund as compensation for the 2433 fishermen for 91 days of lost employment, and grants permission to utilize the remaining ₹6.6497 crore in the Fisheries Director's TSB account for the same purpose.
