Disaster Management Department - Order issued sanctioning financial assistance from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund for the rehabilitation of the father of the child Ananthu, who died due to electrocution in Malappuram district, Shri Suresh A., and his brothers Shri Balakrishnan, Shri Ayyappan, and Shri Vijayan. Shri Suresh, father of school student Ananthu Vijayan (Amadan House, Karakode P.O., Vellakkad), who died due to electrocution from an illegally drawn electric wire to avoid wild animal menace in Vellakkad, Nilambur constituency, Malappuram district, has submitted an application stating that he and his brothers Ayyappan, Balakrishnan, and Vijayan, including four families, are living in a miserable condition in a place surrounded by water on three sides near the forest. They have stated that they have to take shelter in relief camps during the rainy season due to flood threats, face constant threat of wild animal attacks, and face difficulties in children's education, employment, and other primary/emergency needs, and have requested to take steps to relocate them to a safe place. 2. To report whether the applicant's house is located in a forest disaster-prone area, a joint inspection committee led by the District Geologist and the Divisional Forest Officer visited the site. The inspection revealed that this area, located on the banks of the Chattippara stream, a tributary of the Chaliyar (Flood Plain), is prone to flooding every rainy season, leaving the houses isolated (island-like). Geologically, this area is included in the NCESS FLOOD map and GSI's Low Hazard Zone. The house is surrounded by private land on three sides and a stream on one side. Being just 600 meters from the forest, wild animal menace is severe. There is a lack of transport facilities, no adequate facilities for vehicular traffic, and they rely on the Forest Department road for travel. Considering the rainy season floods, wild animal attacks, and landslide possibilities, the District Collector, vide reference (2), has reported that the family of Shri Suresh and his brothers Shri Balakrishnan, Shri Ayyappan, and Shri Vijayan can be considered for rehabilitation. 3. The Government examined this matter in detail. An order is issued sanctioning a total of ₹40,00,000/- (Rupees Forty Lakhs only) at the rate of ₹10 lakhs each from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund, as per the order in reference (1), for the rehabilitation of the families of Shri Suresh and his brothers Shri Balakrishnan, Shri Ayyappan, and Shri Vijayan, to move from the said field and buy land and build a house/buy land and house together. 4. The Revenue (DRF) Department shall take steps to provide the CMDRF share of ₹40,00,000/- (Rupees Forty Lakhs only) to the District Collector, Malappuram, for disbursement to Shri Suresh A. and his brothers Shri Balakrishnan, Shri Ayyappan, and Shri Vijayan.
